# WORDRNG

> WORDRNG (https://wordrng.site) is a free browser game about luck and words. Every spin rolls six random letters,
> some get scribbled out, and whatever the survivors happen to spell or form (real words, palindromes, prime sums,
> poker hands, slang: 150 patterns in all, called "spots") pays XP. Rarer spots pay more.
> It plays like a slot machine for letters, drawn in a doodle style.

## How a roll works

1. Six letters are drawn from a Scrabble-style letter bag (common letters like E, A, I come up far more than Q, Z, X).
2. A skip mutator may scribble some letters out (1 in 8 for the first letter, down to 1 in 25,000,000 for all six).
3. Each surviving letter can be foil: gold (1 in 25) adds +1 to the multiplier, rainbow (1 in 250) adds +4.
4. Every spot the surviving letters hit pays XP. Spot XP follows the spot's real odds: XP = round(297 x odds^0.747).
5. The total is (sum of spot XP) x (1 + multipliers). Multipliers: +0.1 per extra spot (combo), gold and rainbow
   letters, +0.5 per copy of the day's lucky letter, and a hot streak bonus for consecutive Rare-or-better rolls.

Daily extras: a lucky letter, a hidden six-letter "echo" word (reveal all six letters in place for a 250,000 XP bonus,
or roll it exactly for the Bullseye Echo spot), a weekly sum target, and a dynamic three-digit target per roll.

## Luck

Luck is earned and permanent (up to x11.25). It makes rainbow letters more likely, and only those, so ordinary rolls
stay ordinary while the rarest results (which need several rainbows) become much less rare.
- +0.03 for every spot discovered in the Codex (150 spots)
- one-time rarity trophies the first time a player reaches Rare through Singularity (+4.0 in total)
- +0.05 every 10 levels, up to +1.75 at level 350
- every 30th roll doubles gold and rainbow chances on top

## Accounts, fairness and leaderboards

Guests can play freely in their browser. With a free account, rolls are made by the server (not the browser), so XP,
levels and leaderboard entries can't be edited or faked. Players can publish any server-made roll from the last
7 days to daily, weekly, monthly and all-time leaderboards, with an optional short message. Rude words are filtered
from messages, names and published rolls.
